Although the average age to commence potty training is 27 months, it is important not to become too fixated with age, and instead look for signs that your child is physically, socially, and emotionally ready. Some children begin the process earlier, and others later. It is about working within your child’s developmental timeframe.

Some signs which suggest that they may be ready to commence the potty training process, include:

• Waking up dry after a nap and going at least 2 hours without wetting (this gives us an indicator that their bladder is developing)
• Using potty training language and starts showing an interest in their potty and/or others using the toilet (suggests they are showing interest)
• Hiding when they use their nappy (suggests they are aware of the signs they need to go and can act on this)
• Tell you when they have gone (they recognise the feeling of a wet nappy, show a desire not to remain wet, and have the communication skills to inform you of such)

This is just a guide – individual children may not demonstrate all these behaviours.

Remove any liners from your Potette®. The easy wipe surface can be kept clean with warm soapy water, household cleaner or antibacterial wipes. Make sure you completely rinse the water. Do not use any bleach!
