AnnaCecilia's Story

Hello, my name is Anna, mother of two wonderful boys and the inventor of the classic Anna Cecilia breastfeeding bra.
 
When my first son was born, I was very frustrated as I could not find a comfortable and functional feeding bra. My breasts tended to leak milk, and as my bras were made of cotton they left me feeling cold and damp. I found trying to open and close the bra with one hand particularly annoying. 

I needed a bra that could be easily opened and closed with one hand, without using hooks, buckles or snaps and one that was soft, supportive and dried quickly.

It was clear to me that a zipper would be an easy way to open the bra with one hand, though a protective second layer would be needed both for support and to prevent the skin from getting caught. Next I had to find the perfect fabric. A worldwide search uncovered a high tech fabric that dries quickly, is very soft, yet supportive and stretches to accommodate the size of the breasts, without putting pressure on the sensitive milk ducts.

Finally, I had to find someone who could make the bra to the quality that I insist upon – not an easy task! It took me over two years with midwives, lactation consultants and maternity hospitals, plus meeting with hundreds of breastfeeding mothers to perfect the classic AnnaCecilia nursing bra, and I now continue to develop and refine the range every day.
