Why can a KiddyGuard only be used with children up to 2 years old?
In order to comply with current legislation, all stair gates and stair guards can only advertise suitability for children up to 2 years of age (24 months).
The law reasons that once over this age, children are much more dexterous and adventurous, and therefore are likely to be able to work out how to open a stair gate and/or climb over it. It is therefore not possible for any stairgate, including the KiddyGuard, to necessarily prevent accidents when your child is over 2 years old (24 months).
Whether or not the stairgate is closed, it is further recommended that you never leave your child unattended, whatever your child’s age.
