Junior Design Awards 2011 - Highly Commended, Best Eco Toy

Easy to ride, bags of fun, this award-winning running bike for toddlers and pre-schoolers aged 1 to 5 utterly reorganises when and how a kid learns to ride.

Starting with three wheels, it teaches babies to walk and then coast with its lightweight, super-stable design. At age 2 or 3, it converts to a two-wheel, pedal-less bike and toddlers learn to balance with ease. For ages 4 and 5, the ‘Wishbone’ frame is flipped, making Wishbone Bike one of the largest balance bikes on the market.

Now available the Apple Limited Edition Wishbone Bike. The idea for the Apple-a-day bike comes from the old adage "an apple a day keeps the doctor away". The Wishbone Bike is the ideal toy to encourage kids to be active. All that was needed was a design for the bike that would tell the apple-a-day message. Together, Wishbone bike and the new artwork would communicate twin messages essential to growing great kids! AND the NEW 2013 Alphabet Limited Edition. This years design was created by Auckland-based design team Ryan  Henderson and Alicia Christie. Aplying a modern twist on primary colours, a generous window to the wooden canvas, and a simply typography, Ryan and Alicia's Alphabet Bike packages the roman alphabet in absolute style. But more than just a great design, the Alphabet Bike is also a flagship for Wishbone's Read with Me project.

"This bike is the best of the best. We got wishbone bike because my husband was a professional cyclist and he's already dreaming of our daughter at the Olympics. He wanted to give her a bike for her first birthday so we got wishbone bike from overseas (can get them here now I see)." - Read the full review here.

Riding a Balance Bike

The bike is powered by the rider’s feet pushing off the floor - half running, half sitting, speeding along! Children enjoy an enormous amount of fun whilst growing in confidence and improving their coordination.

While using a balance bike, children learn quickly about balance and bike riding in general. When they are eventually ready for a pedal bike, their balance bike experience will really help them to make an easy transition - frequently without stabilisers!

Wishbone Design

Most children come to love their bikes with a fierce attachment, so they don't want to say goodbye as they out-grow it. The beauty of the Wishbone Bike is that it will grow with your child - right up to age of 4 or 5 - so they keep their beloved bike far longer.

Unlike any other balance bike, the Wishbone bike evolves with the different stages of a child’s development. Use starts from the age of 1 as a trike. As the child grows it converts to a low-seated two-wheeled balance bike. Finally, by four or five years old, the ‘wishbone’ frame flips, making the Wishbone Bike one of the largest balance bikes on the market.

Also available, silicone seat covers for your Wishbone Bike. Available in 2 colours - click here for more details.

We recommend you keep all tyres inflated to 20 psi, not more. Tube valves (schrader) are car size – you can inflate them with a standard foot pump.

You should clean your bike with warm water and a soft cloth. Use a wood wax or polish to maintain the finish of the wooden components.

If the wheels are not moving smoothly, lubricate them lightly with standard bike oil.

To maintain your bikes appearance and avoid excessive weathering, we recommend storing Wishbone Bike indoors.

Always regularly inspect your Wishbone Bike to be sure it is in good working order. In particular, check all fastenings to make sure that they are tight. Normal wear and tear may make them loosen from time to time.

Safety

The safety of your child is our top priority.

Everyone knows kids can get injured on bikes. Please read this safety information carefully before using a Wishbone Bike.

• Proper protective gear should be worn while riding Wishbone Bike. This includes closed shoes, a protective helmet at all times, long pants and elbow and knee pads.

• Never allow more than one rider at a time.

• Active adult supervision is required at all times to reduce the risk of injury or death. Use extreme caution at all times.

• Never use the bike on sloping areas or near steps, driveways, roadways, bodies of water, or swimming pools.

This bike is the best of the best. We got wishbone bike because my husband was a professional cyclist and he's already dreaming of our daughter at the Olympics. He wanted to give her a bike for her first birthday so we got wishbone bike from overseas (can get them here now I see). It has three wheels and also converts to a two wheel bike later on. I thought he was pretty crazy (they're pricey) but it turned out to be the best thing we've ever bought. Even though she couldn't walk by herself yet, she walked around the house on her birthday "driving" her bike with a big grin. by about 15 months she could sit down and coast along on three wheels like a pro. She rides to the playground and the shop just sbout every day. Her stroller hardgonorrhea used now it's always "my bike my bike". Looking forward to converting the bike to two wheels. My friend got another balance bike and her son won't ride because he's two and can't be bothered trying to balance. our bike's frame also flips over so it grows bigger and can fit a 5 year old. We've used it so much seems great value for money now compared to some of the stuff I've bought her.

With the start of the Tour de France 2010 just days a way it seems fitting that we share our family’s introduction to the Wishbone Bike. My husband is a avid road biker so I was excited to introduce my daughter and son to the joys of cycling. The Wishbone is a three-in-one product: the kids start with it as a three-wheeled trike, then it converts to a two-wheeled balance bike and then finally the life of this product is extended as you flip the frame to make it “one of the largest running bikes on the market.”

We just got the wishbone bike and my 17 month old loves it. It was the only balance bike he would ride and yesterday he would not get off it in the balance trike mode. He wakes up in the morning ready to ride! My husband and I love the fact that he can graduate from a two wheel balance bike without buying something new as well. Thank you!!!

I got the 3 in 1 bike for my daughter (15 months). She can barely reach the ground but she love its. We are so excited to see her grow into this bike, then grow out of it. Everywhere we go people comment on it. I tell them about it and I hope it boosts your sales. Next summer will be awesome thanks to your bike.
