How long can I use the carrier? What age/weight can I carry my child in different positions?
You can carry your baby from newborn (3.5kg/7½lbs) right up to approximately 4 years of age (maximum weight 20kg/44lbs). Carry your baby/child on your front at first, then move them to either your back or hip later.

FRONT CARRYING - From 0 – 12 months (MIN 3.5kg/7½lbs – MAX 12kg/26lbs) For the first 12 weeks (approx. 7½lbs – 13lbs) you should use the integrated newborn pouch which raises your baby making them sit higher in the carrier. Your newborn’s legs should be tucked up in front of them inside the carrier and not spread apart in the full M position just yet. This keeps their spine in the curved ‘C’ shape that will gradually straighten as they grow. Download the instructions of how to fit the newborn pouch. From 6 months your baby may begin to feel heavy to carry for long spells on your front. You can cross the shoulder straps over to help direct the weight, or you can swap to carry them on your back to increase your comfort. The maximum weight we recommend for front carrying is 12kg/26lbs (approximately one year old).

HIP CARRYING - From 3-12 months (approximately) (MIN 6kg/13lbs – MAX 12kg/26lbs) You can carry your baby in the hip position from around 12 weeks old. By this stage their legs stick out each side of the carrier comfortably in the M position. Position them on your hip, supported by the carrier, with legs either side of your waist. The maximum weight we recommend for hip carrying is 12kg/26lbs (around one year old). When your child is older and more active you tend to need both hands free to get along with daily life. Hip carrying is great for being close to your child but it does limit arm movement on the side you carry the child. It is also not as comfortable for your back as the child’s weight is all on one side of your body instead of central. If you find it uncomfortable swap to either front or back carrying.

BACK CARRYING - From 6 months – 4 years old (approximately) (MIN 8kg/17lbs – MAX 20kg/44lbs) You should not carry your baby on your back until they are at least 6 months to allow their curved spine to develop naturally and slowly straighten. Your baby will also have more control over his/her head at that stage. Older children love to look over your shoulder when walking out and about. You can buy Fumbee harness protectors for added comfort for your child.
