Getting started with Manduca
Read the instructions carefully or download our UK only instructions for all the different ways of wearing your manduca carrier.
BEFORE YOU START:

No matter what carrying position you want to use, always close the hip/waist belt first with the buckle in front of you.

Lengthen the short end of the webbing, so that the female part of the buckle is located underneath the elastic safety loop.

Close the three-point-buckle carefully. Listen for the "clicking" noise. Adjust the hip/waist belt with the help of the long webbing to your size and tuck away the loose ends.

You can now move the waist belt around your body and bring the back panel in front of you or to your hip - according to the carrying position you want to use.
FRONT CARRYING WITH NEWBORN POUCH:

Close the hip/waist belt and move the buckle around your waist to your front.

Lay your baby down on the back panel, so that his/her legs are squatted. The upper edge of the main panel should be at your baby's neck - use the back extension if necessary.

Bring the newborn pouch between the legs of your baby and up to the front, as if putting on a nappy.

Close the snaps of the newborn pouch on the outside of the carrier. Take care that the baby's legs are not squeezed by the hip/waist belt.

Now bring your baby and carrier into an upright position. Your baby's bottom should be lower than its knees. Baby's feet stay inside the carrier.
N.B. If you do not need to use the newborn pouch [your baby is heavier than 13lbs/6kgs] then leave the pouch insert neatly tucked inside the elastic holders. Skip steps 1 - 3 and move onto step 4.
FRONT CARRYING WITHOUT NEWBORN POUCH:

Close the hip/waist belt first and move the buckle round to your back. The back panel hangs down in front of you.

Hold your baby with their legs spread in front of your tummy.

Bring up the panel between the legs of your baby and over his/her back.

Let your baby slide as deep into the carrier as possible - there should be no room between your baby's bottom and the fabric.

Keep one hand holding the baby at all times, whilst you put your arms through the shoulder straps.
FRONT CARRYING WITHOUT NEWBORN POUCH - STRAIGHT SHOULDER STRAPS:

Reach for one shoulder strap and put it on your shoulder, while the other hand holds your baby.

Change hands.

Slip the other shoulder strap into place.

Reach behind for the connection strap and close it behind your neck.

Pull on the short ends of the webbing to tighten.
You can further adjust the shoulder straps by using the buckles located on the front of you shoulders.
